Thank you for a wonderful turnout at the science and engineering week. It was an amazing experience for all of us and I hope you enjoyed it too!
For those of you who couldn't make it: no worries. Here is a recap of what happened.
Physoc had a stand dedicated to high altitude balloons to promote POP! and we started early, getting everything set up and tested before 10.AM
Setting up.
This was also a big day for Cait, our new outreach officer. It was her first official outreach event!
Our objective for family day was to explain the basics of how our balloon would work when we launched it, and what kind of data we would get. How better to do it than blow up marshmallows in vacuum jar??
Marshmallows in near vacuum compared to normal ones.
Our biggest challenge was stopping the audience (and demonstrators!!) from eating up the experiment. So how does it work? You can find a poster explaining it all right here.
Of course, none of this could have happened without our lovely team!
All of us had a great time explaining stuff to very enthusiastic kids and parents. We really hope we inspired some brilliant young minds to study science!
Hugs!
KV :)
